[edit]
Delete
Deleting something moves it to the recycle bin.
- Usualy has no confirmation required, but one may be used if it is a situation where it may not be clear what is being deleted.
[edit]
Remove
Removing something purges it immediately. There is no undo.
- Never requires a confirmation.
[edit]
Erase
Removing something purges it immediately. There is no undo. Erase is also used in this manner in the recycle bin.
- "Erase" is always followed by a confirmation page, except for things already in the recycle bin.
[edit]
Remove vs. Erase
Both words refer to the same effect, but are used for different subjects. If the thing to be deleted is trivial (very easily recreated or is a relationship only with no data) we use "Remove". If the thing to be purged contains more than trivial data and/or will cause other objects to be purged with it, we use "Erase".
