What is the RPM Wiki?
The RPM Wiki is the library of all RPM documentation that is suitable for public viewing.
[edit]
What's in the Wiki?
- RPM reference guide
- Best Practices
- Articles about related technology like Internet Explorer
- Feature ideas
- Known Issues and Server Status
- Events & community information
[edit]
What's not in the Wiki?
- Specific customer information, unless a customer chooses to post that information themselves
- Every defect. We use internal systems for RPM trouble tickets and defect tracking. Certain problems will be put on the wiki Known issues page and others may have their own dedicated page. Some defects will not be put on the wiki at all.
- Marketing & press release information. We want the wiki to be a useful support tool for people who are already paying to use RPM. Our main website (http://rpmsoftware.com) includes marketing & news. There is also the separate Development Journal (http://rpmsoftware.com/journal) for RPM development and product news.

What is a wiki?
A Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki) is a collaborative Web site set up to allow user editing and adding of content.
[edit]
Why does this site use a wiki?
- Easy contribution. The wiki technology makes it easy for RPM staff and interested RPM users to add and update content.
- Flexible organization. When a user needs help on a certain issue, there is a lot of information that can help. The reference, articles, best practices, stories from other customers, all need to be in one place, linked and searchable. A wiki allows the freedom to change on-the-fly the way content is related to each other and to go into as much detail on any one topic as needed. For instance, if I need to add several pages just on using multiple windows, I can easily do that.
- Good searching. The database at the core of this site provides instant and thorough searching of everything in the wiki.
